Friday Night Shootout

Tournament Format

The Friday Night Shootout is a structured mini golf knockout tournament with an individual match play format leading into a stroke play final.

Knockout Rounds – Match Play

• Players will be paired for head-to-head match play rounds.
• The winner of each matchup advances to the next round. The loser is eliminated.
• Match play rounds whittle the field down by half each round until a set number of players remain for the final.

Handling Uneven Player Numbers (Byes)

• If there is an odd number of players, one participant will be granted a bye (automatic advancement) to the next round.
• Byes are allocated based on registration order. The earlier you register, the higher your priority for a bye.

Final Round – Stroke Play

• Once a small field remains, the final round shifts to stroke play to determine the top 3 podium finish.
• The final round structure is determined based on how many players remain after match play:
  7 players left: x3 match play knockout matchups + 1 bye > 4-player stroke play final
  6 players left: x3 match play knockout matchups > 3-player stroke play final
  5 players left: 5-player stroke play final
  4 players left: 4-player stroke play final

Example Tournament Progression (19 Players)

1. Round 1: 9 match play matchups + 1 bye > 10 players remain
2. Round 2: 5 match play matchups > 5 players remain
3. Final: 5-player stroke play

Match Play Rules

• Each player competes against one opponent head-to-head per round.
• The player who completes a hole in the fewest strokes wins the hole. Otherwise, the hole is a tie.
• The player who wins the most holes wins the match and advances.
• Tiebreaker: A single closest-to-pin putt-off determines the winner if a match is tied after all specified holes are played.

Stroke Play Final Rules

• Finalists play specified holes and count every stroke they take.
• The player with the lowest total strokes wins 1st place, the second-lowest takes 2nd place, and the third-lowest takes 3rd place.
• Tiebreaker: A single closest-to-pin putt-off determines the winner if players are tied after all specified holes are played.

General Rules & Conditions

1. Unplayable Shot: If the ball is against an obstacle or in a spot it cannot be played, the ball may be moved one putter club head away from the obstacle without penalty.
2. Ball Out of Play: If a ball is hit out of play, it is to be dropped from knee height at the point at which it left the course and a one (1) stroke penalty is added to your score. If the dropped ball also leaves the field of play, it may be re-dropped. A dropped ball cannot go in the hole and must be re-dropped.
3. Pace of Play: Players must keep up with the pace of the tournament. Excessive delays may result in penalties or disqualification.
4. Scoring: Players must keep track of their own strokes and verify with their opponent or an official. Any disputes will be resolved by a tournament official.
5. Equipment: Players may use either their own putter or a Swing Factory putter provided at the venue. No modified or non-standard putters are allowed.
6. Tiebreakers: All ties are decided by a one-shot closest-to-pin putt-off.
7. Disqualification: Any form of cheating, unsportsmanlike behaviour, or failure to follow tournament rules may result in disqualification.
8. Registration & Entry Fees: Players must be registered and paid before the tournament starts. No late entries will be accepted once play has begun.
9. Decisions & Disputes: The tournament organizer has final discretion in resolving any disputes regarding rules, match results, or tournament procedures.
