Swing Factory Brings Next-Generation Golf and Entertainment Experience to the Illawarra Region
Port Kembla, NSW | 19th December 2025
Swing Factory has announced a multi-million dollar redevelopment of the driving range at Port Kembla Golf Club, confirming plans to transform the site into a state-of-the-art golf, sport and entertainment destination for the Illawarra region (STCA).
The revitalised precinct is scheduled to open in 2027. It will feature a world-class driving range, an 18-hole architecturally designed mini-golf course and a modern food and beverage offering designed to appeal to golfers, families, corporates and the broader community.
The Port Kembla Golf Club site becomes Swing Factory’s next major NSW development, following the outstanding success of Swing Factory Terrey Hills in Sydney and Morack Public Golf Course in Melbourne. This also follows announcements in Maitland (NSW) and Morton Bay (Qld).
The expansion forms part of a broader strategy to establish Swing Factory as Australia’s first national golf driving range entertainment brand.
The revitalised Port Kembla Club facility will feature:
- Toptracer Range – the global leader in ball-tracking technology, as seen on TV at The Open Championship and The Masters.
- Hitting bays for players of all abilities with technology, lounges, and F&B service in every bay.
- An 18-hole mini golf course by acclaimed designer Richard Chamberlain.
- A modern food and beverage precinct with quality dining and casual options.
- Versatile event spaces for corporate functions, birthdays, and community gatherings
As part of the redevelopment, Swing Factory will also renovate the current clubhouse and make improvements to the wider golf course, including course improvements and irrigation upgrades.
Swing Factory Chief Executive Officer Erich Weber said the Port Kembla project represents a significant investment in both golf infrastructure and community recreation.
“We are excited to bring Swing Factory to Port Kembla and the Illawarra,” Weber said. “This is a region with a strong sporting culture, and we’ll aim to create a facility that fully services the valued members and the avid golfer while also providing a welcoming entertainment destination for families and corporates.”
“Golfers will be able to practise and improve using the world’s leading driving range technology, Toptracer Range, while those new to the game can enjoy an accessible, social experience in a modern setting.”
Daniel Munk CEO of Wests Illawarra and Port Kembla Golf Club added: “This redevelopment represents a significant investment in the future of Port Kembla Golf Club and the broader Illawarra community. Partnering with Swing Factory allows us to modernise our facilities while staying true to the club’s role as a welcoming, community-focused venue.”
Destination Wollongong general manager Jeremy Wilshire was excited by the latest development. “We welcome a proven operator that complements the enviable lifestyle of the region and adds to our burgeoning visitor economy offering,” he said. “It is a major undertaking that not only matches our strategic focus in developing health and well-being outdoor product but also enriches the experience of locals. Kudos to Swing Factory and Wests Illawarra.”
The Port Kembla redevelopment builds on Swing Factory’s proven model, with further locations expected to be announced in the coming months as the business continues to expand nationally
